Would someone please tell me what the AMD equivalent to the Intel 6600
(2.4GHz clock speed)......is it AMD 6000+, as an example ?

HOw about the Intel 6420 and the 6700? (2.13 and 2.66 GHz clock speed,
respectfully)?

C2D 6600 looks pretty close to AMD 6000+ here. Each processor has its
plusses and minuses. These charts take a lot of interpretation, so
glancing at them once is not enough.

One thing I still don't understand, is whether the C2D really has lousy
FP performance or not.

The gaming benchmarks are limited in those charts, but the C2D seems to
whup the 6000+ pretty good.

Interesting issue. I think AMD has had the better math unit for
quite some time. Intel builds it's processors to run benchmarks and
do all that media encoding.

Without a die shrink advantage, 4meg cache, benchmark prefetchers,
friendly software compilers, and whatnot, the C2D might not be all
that, but them's the breaks. C2D's got them and it works.
