Just getting into the BIOS implies that your CPU is already working ...

As an example on my ASUS A7V8X-MX motherboard and a AMD 2500+ I had to set
the bus clock (via dip switches) to 1666MHz and not the default of 100MHz
and yes it did work when set to the lower speed. I thought it was a bit
strange that I only had a 1.1GHz processor.
