i have a AMD 64 3000+ cpu on a MSI K8T motherboard. and i've had problems
since day 1 with windows xp home. is there a chance that the new XP pro 64bit
OS will help?

Not knowing what your 'problems' are it would be foolish to give a definite
answer.

It would be reasonable to assume that the 64bit XP will run more reliably:
for 2 reasons.

1. It will be a new installation / upgrade of your Home version and reset
any latent Windows errors.
2. It will be correct for the AMD CPU.

Matt,

It should do once we release it (next year).
If you are having problems now and have not been able to solve them you ma
not be ready to deal with all the issue you may encounter using a pre
release (unfinished) operating system.
For the time being you should focus your efforts on solving existing problem
you may have on your current system.

yes sorry

windows has a screen that comes up saying that there are unreconized file
format and needs to be fixed. then it asks for the XP cd. I then do what it
says and it goes away. but some time when i restart my computer, it dosn't
even load windows. and every time i take out the cd it comes back.

i thought it was my video card, then the driver but so far i have no idea
what it is, and i think it has to do with windows it's self. the video card
is the ASUS V9999 gamer edition with the Nivida geforce 6800

You need to source Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (64-bit drivers for
all your hardware devices - you cannot use the 32-bit drivers.
Try the manufactures webs site for drivers - NOTE they may not have any yet
as x64 Windows is still not a finished released product.
