Alternative to SWF?

I'd like to display 3, 1 minute slideshows (looping) without having any media
player visible. I tried using swf files and Flasher but they don't really
play smoothly plus other elements on the page are alot slower (DHTML Menu).
Any time I try to change the quality to anything other than autohigh the
flash movie just disappears; as soon as I change it back to autohigh they
display again. Is there another way?

Hmm,
I had set up a slide show on my site that used to work perfectly with no
extra software needed - just JavaScript

I tried it just now and it is a disaster - it sort of works, which is all I
can say, so I won't give you the reference. However, it should be possible
to do, since I did it once. (One day, I will repair my site) .

Or try JAlbum. This site uses it
