Is there a freeware alternative to Quicktime's media player?

The people who do "Real Alternative" do a "Quick Time Alternative" as
well -- it seems to work OK.

It works very well. And if (and that's a big if) you want a different
player than the excellent media Player Classic that comes with Quicktime
Alternative, you can use Irfanview with the Quicktime plugin.
This is just a player, but it works well with the codecs installed by
Quicktime Alternative.
