Alt+W Does Not work

The key combination Alt+W does not work in MS Office or any other application
installed. All are legal versions and work fine in all other respects.
Problem occurs regardless of whether or not I am using the built-in keyboard
on my laptop or an external keyboard. I am using the WINDOWS XP Professional
operating system.

What are you expecting to happen using Alt+W? In Excel and Word it gives
me the Window option from the menu! This for me is not useful!
