ALL WEB BROWSERS CRASH INSTANTLY (XP2)

1) This was all set off by installing firefox 2.0.0.1 to my machine.
I got a little crazy with the extensions, and decided to uninstall.
Things got tangled in the uninstall, and now my computer's totally
wacky.

You know how it goes.

My web browsers, and even explorer.exe seem to crash every time they
use http or tcp/ip. Intra net tests are ok. Everytime I start ANY web
program it crashes instantly, including any form of updating.

I turned off Error Reporting in the Advanced System tab, but that just
cause the programs to lock up instead of crash! I want my com abilities
back!

One hint i have may be helpful. I noticed that if I run ANY of the
browsers ( Opera, IE, Mozilla, Avant) by using the "Run as..."
(Administrator) command that everything works perfectly.

How can I unscrew myself from this lame perch?

Regards.

By the way, Im pretty sure this is an OS Issue.
I've already AV, Spyware, and Spam scanned this comp to death.
Picked up the normal junk.

It's got to be a windows service or reg. key that got deleted.
Instant death for all Internet applications.

Help if you can....

You may need to re-build the TCP/IP protocol stack. If you are not familiar
with the manual steps need to do thism you should be looking for
"winsockxpfix.exe" which will do these steps in "one click".

I agree with Yves, try to repair your winsock and also look for Add-Ons,
some Add-Ons can cause this Issueor behavior.
On how to Disable the Add-Ons try this:
Click Start >> Click Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE Properties windows click on Programs Tab and locate and click on
the [Manage Add-Ons..] Button and there try to disable Non-MS Add-ons (you
can Enable them later one-by-one and see which is the culprit and Uninstall
it or Update it if it is Legitimate Add-Ons) Then Reboot your machine and see
if the crash will happen or the issue resolved.
To repair the winsock two options:
1- Open a run command and type:
netsh winsock reset click [OK] and Reboot .
or go here and download winsockfixer:

HTH.

All of my browser stopped 0n 12/18/06. Queries would come in but I couldn't
reply to anything and EI would hangup. I did a system restore and everything
works again.
