All too frequent "syncronizing folders"

Using OL2003 and have noticed that it frequently synchronizes folders. Since
this 1. slows down access to OL, and 2. I don't know what folders it
synchronizes with, could someone shed some light on what's going on?

Can I either turn off or at least control the frequency of syncs?

You have a valid point and this would make a good suggestion for MS.
Synchronization is supposed to be only for exchange servers, but I find my OL
does this too frequently and I'm a stand alone user. I think it's
synchronizing web related folders like Hotmail. When I delete those folders,
it doesn't seem to do it. There's more info in Help and Office Online, if you
want to research this.

Thanks, I'll check the Help again. I scanned it before, but couldn't find
much other than information about how to sync with other devices, etc. Also,
I don't have Hotmail.

Anyone from Microsoft on here who could get into this a bit?
