"All Programs" Listed on Start Menu

When I click on start, then on "All Programs", the list of all the programs
loaded on my computer are listed, however, the popup is too small and I
cannot see the last column. So any programs that are at the last of the
alphabet are not seen. How do I make this screen smaller. There are three
columns and they are very wide. It would be great if I could reduce the
width of the columns to make room for the fourth column. Any help will be
appreciated.

Until a better idea comes along, save space by putting (for a start) all
your media players & similar devices etc. under Accessories/Entertainment by
dragging and dropping them there, plus you'll probably see some programmes
listed twice (Real Player and WMP are famous for doing that).which you could
delete.
You must have a hell of a lot of installed stuff...do you really need them
all??!! I keep the stuff I hardly ever use in My Documents/Software
Downloads Folder.

With the Classic Start Menu, both of these need to be UNChecked.
XP Start Menu doesn't have Use Personalized Menus option.

XP Start Menu >>
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button | Advanced tab |
Scroll down to and UNCheck:
Scroll Programs * |
OK | Apply | OK

Classic Start Menu >>
Right click the Start button | Properties |
Start Menu tab | Customize button |
Scroll down to and UNCheck both of these:
Scroll Programs * |
Use Personalized Menus **
OK | Apply | OK

[*Specifies whether to display the items on the Programs menu as one long
scrolling menu or as horizontal pages. Depending on your screen resolution,
if you have more than 29 or 38 programs installed, and you select to have
one long scrolling menu, you can access the programs you don’t see
by clicking the arrow at each end of the list of programs.]

[**Specifies whether to turn on Personalized Menus.
Personalized Menus keeps the Programs menu clean by hiding items you haven't
used recently, while still keeping other programs easily accessible. You
can gain access to hidden programs by clicking the down arrow at the bottom
of the Programs menu.]

Hi Lea,

Right click the Start Button/Properties/Customize/Advanced/Scroll Programs

or:

Right click the Start Button/Explore All Users/Start Menu/Programs. In the
right pane, create new Folders and drag and drop related shortcuts, etc.

or:

Rename the longer titles, thus reducing the width.

The width of the columns is controlled by the length of the longest
name; so look for really long ones, r-click and rename shorter (eg
remove "Microsoft Office" from "Microsoft Office Word 2003")

Also consider making some folders (to become sub-menus) in
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu
and moving items into them - and deleting some of the entirely
superfluous things that program installs tend to make, like direct
access to their ReadMe
