All Programs list

I want to be able to adjust the way the programs on my computer are listed
in the "All programs" list, e.g. have a entry in the list specifically for
CD-Rom programs, another for media players, another for utilities, etc.,
then for each of these have a sub-menu.
Is there a utility that will enable me to do that easily, or will I have to
do something in the Registry and if so what?
Perhaps someone might be able to recommend a useful link - I haven't managed
to find anything by Googling.

Right click start and select explore all users. Open the programs folder and
customize away. Then do it again, except select explore to arrange shortcuts
that apply only to your user account.
