all of a sudden i have to type http:// before web addresses

ever since the latest round of updates, whenever i want
to navigate to a web page i have to type in "http://"
before the webaddress, otherwise explorer hangs for one
minute then proceeds to the page. Any one else
experiencing this or know how to fix it. (my auto
complete is on)
