All of a sudden crashing - why,why,why???

All of a sudden my pc has gone like a bag o crap!

Programmes are freezing, games don't work and when they do they crash, or i
get a fatal error and the thing restarts itself.

Did not do anything major, no installed progs or anyhting unusual. It is
definitely not a virus, i am not a 'green' user and know my way round a pc
reasonably. The only thing i can think it might be, i reckon, is i installed
new graphics card driver b4 i went on holiday - i think!!!(it was like 6
weeks ago!!) i have rolled back the drivers - no good, i have updated with
latest available - still no good!

I used to know a guy who analysed the minidump files i got from the fatal
errors but have lost his e-mail. Is there anyone else who could take a look
for me? I have a few recent ones for someone to probe.

I would be forever in your debt!

thanks for listening

Check your Ram using Memtest or Microsoft Memory Checker. Remove and
reconnect the Graphics Card. Try a few
different GC drivers. Use a driver remover before installing a new one.
Both ATI and Nvidia have one.

Open Control Panel - System - Advanced and click on the Settings
button in Startup and Recovery (bottom) section. In the Startup and
Recovery window click on the checkbox for "Automatically restart" to
clear it. Click on Apply and OK as needed to exit.

This should result in a "Blue Screen Of Death" STOP error message
instead of a reboot. If this happens then the contents of the STOP
message, including the STOP code, all 4 parameters, and any file or
module names mentioned will be a direct clue as to the underlying
cause of your problems. Post that information back here.

Good luck

*** STOP: 0x0000008E (0xc0000005, 0x804E8541, 0xF29535c, 0x00000000)

Can you shed any light as to what is causing this?

Your error code (0x0000008E) says that this was an
KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error.

Parameter one (0xc0000005) says that this was a
STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION

Parameter two indicates that this occurred at memory address
0x804E8541

I would suspect the new graphics card as being the most likely
candidate for the cause of the problem. What is the make and model of
this card? Do you still have the old graphics card available? Try
installing that temporarily and see if the problem persists.

Good luck
