Align to Grid Icons

My icons, all of a sudden, are all aligned by grid and will no go back to the
left side of the desktop where I had them before. I have no check marks by
Auto Arrange or Align to Grid. Hopefully someone has a registry fix for this?

In the Display applet>Desktop tab>Customize Desktop>Web make sure the
"lock Desktop items" box is unchecked.

Hi Malke,

Yes, it is unchecked. The only check mark I have is "Show Desktop
Icons".

Have a third-party theming application? Desktop security application?
Other than that, I'm afraid I don't know. If this is a sudden change,
try doing a System Restore to a date before the problem occurred.

Up until a month ago I was using an application called "Object
Desktop" at
http://www.stardock.com/ but have since then removed it. Am I
screwed?

I have no idea since I don't use third-party theming apps on my own XP
boxen. However, my son uses Object Desktop and, I think, Windowblinds
with no problem. Try setting your theme to Windows XP - IOW the default
theme. Otherwise, you might try Object Desktop tech support or even the
forums at WinCustomize.com. Another source of help may be from MVP
Kelly Theriot. Go to her website here:

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm

Click on "T" and scroll down to the Themes section. She has lots of
information and fixes to try there.
