alarm/cpu

I had to change the fan on cpu, when I plug the power in and try to
start, I get an alarm, sys, does not start.
Hard drive light on, fans run, and thats it. Have replaced the fan
before, and all went well before.
Pen.lll, socket 370 700mh. chip set ple133. 512mem. win xp sp2.
chaintec-6aiv, 4 years old. has been running warm,100%load room temp 2oc
mobo temp 37c cpu 53c
What do you suggest? Fans a 4700rpm 24cfm

It worked before but was running hot. Now it doesn't work at all. Seeing as
how you were in the case, check every single connection. Remove and
reinstall each connection to clean the contact area. You did something
detrimental to your hardware. Now you have got to track it down.

Sounds like you unseated your CPU a bit. Recheck the CPU if seated properly or you did damage to it by bending a pin accidentally. Take off your fan to check this. Eye contact is not enough

If the fan heat sink isn't touching the cpu, the system isn't going to work.

Your temps appear normal to me. Wouldn't change a thing.

Tried to reseat cpu, removed all conections ck. and replaced, every
thing is the way it is supposed to be, still get beapping alarn as soon
as I turn power on. only thing conected to comp is mon. and keyboard

You could have damaged it while working in the case.

A good tech will be able to substitute test for a bad component. At any
given time I have sufficient spare parts to build 4-5 computers on the fly.
These spare parts are frequently used to test a defective machine. There is
no way for a tech to test a M/B. The manufacturers have such a tester (many
tens of thousands of dollars). For a normal technician, a substitute is laid
on the workbench next to the computer and jumpered in. If the computer works
a new M/B can be permanently installed.

Brandy, you got the answer. Sorry if you didn't like it but there really
isn't anything more to be said about this. Either you broke something
by trying to fix the machine or some component of your computer has
died, probably because of the overheating. Either take the machine to a
repair shop for testing or start swapping out the RAM, the processor,
get a new motherboard, etc.

Your motherboard manual should tell you what the error beeps mean. Until you
know that, how do you expect to narrow down the problem?

Thank you so much for your most kind answers. Will stop in to local
repair shop. Note, repair shop found bad mainboard.
Sone that reply think I did not like answers, But, every one has to
start somewhere.
