I'd just like to hear from someone that this isn't happening to, and whatpreset you use.
I can get it to work with the vcr format, but none of the others.
Minute I export to mpeg2, the sound and video are off.

If you do, he's a liar. All of the PVRs have this problem. It is
caused by two things .. with both present. 1. The tv station
is sending a weak signal in your area. 2. As a result, your
PVR is dropping video frames. Also, there is some mention
of slowness in the PCI bus for this type of application. Check
out the new PowerColor T55E-P03 TV Tuner. It is pci-e X1,
and it touts itself as able to maintain audio-video sync
because it is on a much faster bus .. pci-e X1. I have the
Hauppauge PVR 350 with everything hardware decoded.
If I get on a weak channel, I still get audio-video going out
of sync. My PC is a top box, and I'm a tech. Nobody is
going to bullshit me about this problem as a problem with
video settings of any kind. I can just switch to a strong
local channel, and the a-v sync holds just fine.

Try an AIW X800XT. There's no lag at all in the MPEG2 recording. I'm using
MMC 9.14 under XP SP2 on a P4 3.06GHz, 4GB dual-channel RAM
500GB Maxtor ATAPI hard drive with 16MB cache using Ultra DMA
Mode 5. Besides recording off of TV, I've also recorded entire VHS
movies (GoldenEye and Goldfinger) from the composite input for
transferring to DVD and not a frame was dropped.

I have same problem, audio lags behind video by a second or
so. Was going to create a new post, but saw this one. Am
hoping for more advice.

Have AIW X800XT, MMC 9.03, CAT 6.1, last one that works with
MMC 9.03 from what I hear. Dell D-8300, P4, 3GHz with HT,
800MHz FSB, 2GB RAM, recording on new 2nd hard drive I just
added for recording TV shows, a Seagate 400GB hard drive,
16MB cache.

Some recordings will be OK, some will not. Even when I
start the TV program, sometimes it will audio will lag.
Usually, I have to re-boot, and not start any other apps
before recording to get a decent recording.

Have the presets set for highest quality, and CBR (Constant
Bit Rate) vs. Variable, in both the MMC PVR recorder, and
also with my Pinnacle 9 (latest updates). Have
SoundBlaster Audigy 2-ZS.

I almost always record from the same TV channel, Spike, and
have a signal booster on the coax cable. What I don't
understand is why some recordings are sync'd OK, and some
are not. You just don't know until the recording is over.

And even AFTER a recording when playing back the video using
the MMC Player, the audio seems OK. But sometimes after
using Pinnacle to edit out the commercials, set chapter
marks, and burn the DVD (always burn to HD first, then burn
to DVD), the audio "slips" a bit from the video.

It seems there are "points of failure" on the PVR side, and
then on the video editing/burning side. In other words,
everything has to be "just right" with all processes, or the
audio lags.

If anyone has any other tips (other than buying new
hardware, which is my last resort), would greatly appreciate
it. Here are my current PVR settings. Would love to hear
from others on their settings, what works best for them:

In the PVR Map Presets, am using a slightly modified version
of DVD High-MPEG-2. What's the difference between "ENCODE
INTERLACED" , "DEINTERLACE" and "PROGRESSIVE"? Right now
I'm using "ENCODE INTERLACED." Does this have anything to
do with dropped frames?

Also in # of P Frames, setting is at 5. Number of B Frames
in Subgroup is at 2.

Video Encode Parameters set to Constant Bit Rate, at 8.00
MBit/Sec, right in the middle, and AUDIO ENCODING PARAMETERS
set to 224 KBit/Second, right in the middle.

Video Soap set to "light." Using Combo Filter 1, Strength
15%.

Lastly, on MMC master configuration, in Audio/Video tab,
have "ENABLE DYNAMIC COMPRESSION" enabled (checked). The
ADD LFE CHANNEL TO DOWNMIX is NOT checked.

Thanks again for any advice.
Gary.
