AIW 9800 SE

Hi,

I'm thinking of upgrading my 8500 AIW, but am confused with specs etc.

I have seen some 9800 AIW SE versions which seem a good price. BUT

Whats the difference between SE and Pro ? Some seem to think there is
a software mod to turn one into the other, if so has anyone tried it
and is there a way to know in advance if I can do this ?

Where does the 9800 SE fit in terms of performance with the 9600 Pro
and the 9700 Pro ?

The PRO is faster because of 8 pipelines compared to the SE's 4 pipelines.

It IS possible to softmod the SE into 9800Pro, but you have to be a bit
lucky. It seem like some get it working, others again do. Some get it
working, but there is artifacs in the pictures. The SE is the same VPU as
9800 with 4 of 8 pipelines disabled, and the softmod tries to enable the
remaining four.

The SE is about the same performance as a stock 9600Pro, sometimes the Pro
is faster, other times the SE is faster. It seems like the Pro is a better
choice if the softmod doesnt work.
