AIW 9000 low audio volume

I'm not able to get much audio volume from my AIW 9000 when in TV mode. I
have on-board audio on my SOYO KT333, and it's fine with other aps. But in
TV mode, I need to crank it up to full volume to get acceptable audio
levels. The documentation that came with the AIW isn't very helpful. I'm
currently using the Line in connection to the on-board sound header in the
back of the computer. I also have a 5.1 add-in card, but I don't know if
there is some way I'm supposed to be connecting to it, or if it is only for
outputting to a 5.1 speaker set (which I don't own yet). Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem (9000 AIW, DX9a, MMC 8.1 also happens on
8.5)

If I use the phono composite input the problem goes away - which is odd
since the audio signal is still coming in through the same line-in route.
I've given up on it, putting it down to the SB Live soundcard not having any
updated drivers for W98SE.
Have also tried various registry tweaks
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\ATI Technologies\MultiMedia\Features\TV\Sound
\(try 'em all!)
with no effect at all.

Good luck! - you've got an SB Live, yes?

Interesting. I had an SB Live and there are still remnants in the registry,
but it's no longer installed and I'm now using the on-board sound. I'll try
the registry tweaks you mention and report back.

Replaced my SB live value with oem Turtle Beach Santa Cruz and low recorded
sound volume is NO MORE.
Nice card.

I too have the problem of low TV audio with 9000 pro AIW.

I have a new Dell Dimension with Audigy 2. I have the Line In slider maxed
out. The sound level is fine at that setting (just shouldn't have to max it
out to get a good level).

When recording however, the volume level drops considerably, to a level I
don't like.

The registery tweaks look interesting (tho apparently with no effect). I'm
wondering what values other have in their registry. I currently have the
following values:

RecordVolume = 603
UserRecVol = 1
Volume = 848

I also notice that SchedRecMute = 1 but when I have scheduled programs start
recording, they are not muted......

The Windows volume control in Volume - Options - Properties - Recording -
Line In seems to be a separate setting - maybe that's it?

I have:

RecordVolume=1000
UserRecVol = 1
Volume = 1000
SchedRecMute = 0
I set it that way to try to get more volume, both on watching and recording
TV, but it had no effect at all!

I wonder what LiveOveride does?? - since all these settings seem to be
ignored, maybe they are being overridden?

Sometimes, after a scheduled recording, there is no sound output at all from
TV, and only a reboot cures that. Points strongly to a registry problem -
ATI and Creative getting in a tangle somehow.

But I am planning on fixing the SBLive with a sledge hammer to cure the
problem, as I have a Videologic SonicFury (TB Santa Cruz UK equivalent) on
order from DABs!

TV on Demand and recording. :( This was in Windows XP Professional SP1
(all updates) with SB Live! (original Platinum and without its LiveDrive
installed).

Did anyone find a workaround beside a new sound card?
