AIW 9000 + HDTV adapter?

I have an ATI AIW Radeon 9000 and want to get an HDTV adapter for it for
display on my big screen. I checked ATI's store as well as Svideo.com and it
seems the adapter is listed as available for every AIW from the 8500 on
up....except for the 9000.

Is there some reason it won't work on that card? It has a DVI output so I
don't see why I can't use one. If I buy one meant for another card will it
work?

I'm gonna be ticked if it won't work. I upgraded from an AIW 7500
specifically for that capability. I'd read at one time, I think on ATI's
site, that you had to have an 8500 or better. That was before the 9000 was
available though.

Check at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/ under home theater computers. do a
search for ATI HDTV adaptors. I not sure but I don't think the 9000 will
work with the adaptor. If it does there's a lot of info there on setup of
the display.

9000-HDTV and I think there was mention that it's a no go at AVS. Doesn't
seem right because the 8500 works but looks like that the way it is. I'd
still check to be 100% sure.

Yea, it looks like I'm SOL. I found the same reference on AVS. So now,
instead of buying a new ATI for $200 plus I'm looking at standalone VGA to
HDTV converters. A little less money and the info on AVS indicates a better
picture than the ATI dongle anyway.

Getting the VGA to HDTV converter is only half the battle. HDTV scan
frequencies don't match up with VGA unless you are running in a 480 vertical
resolution, which is virtually useless. So you would likely be disappointed
with the adapter solution anyway. I use the s-video on my card because I
can select either 800x600 or 1024x768 resolutions. Unfortunately most games
(if not all) only have options for 800x600 and up standard VGA resolutions.
So even if you could get something like Powerstrip to give you a 1080i or
720p vga setup with the adapter it probably wouldn't be very useful except
at the desktop.
