Aiptek 12000u USB Graphics Tablet and Vista

Hi,

I have a graphics tablet that has served me well for some time using XP Pro.
I've just upgraded to Vista and the tablet now doesn't work properly. I
contacted Aiptek (who only have drivers up to XP) and they told me to use the
Vista drivers. So I uninstalled Aiptek's drivers and when I plugged the
tablet back in, the pen responded properly, but it is now acting like a mouse
insofar as the drawing area is only around 3cm x 2cm - not ideal for drawing
(especially when the tablet is A4). This piece of equpiment is vital to my
work. I don't really want to have to buy a new one as it will work if I go
back to XP.

I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks.

I'm sorry, but your only recourse is to go back to Aiptek and talk to
them about the problems. They are responsible for writing drivers for
their hardware and if the drivers they wrote don't work...

The alternative is to go back to XP.

I had the same issue with my Hanvon tablet.
The drivers that came on the disk would not work in Vista.
However, their webpage: http://www.hanvon.com/download.htm
does have updated drivers for Vista (top link on that page).
So maybe they will work for your tablet as well.
Try it out!

Thanks.

I tried the Hanvon driver that you suggested, but it didn't work I'm afraid.

I have spent the last couple of weeks using my old PC which still has XP on
it. Aiptek have given up trying to help and the majority of responses have
advised me to trash the tablet and buy a new one.

Suddenly, today I did another trawl of the web and came across a post on
another forum that suggested visiting www.trust.com/service/downloads and
downloading their Vista driver for a tablet (with scroll button whether you
have one or not). I did it and lo and behold, it worked! Brilliant!
Apparently, Aiptek make Trust's tablets, so the drivers should be compatible.
Strange that Aiptek themselves don't seem to have this info.

Anyway, hope this helps others. Thanks to all who contributed.
