AIDA32 - It's all over, folks!

Hi Jim,
The download is sure available. The development is over, so this will be
the last version!

It will still work, even if there isn't a new version
coming. They should have said "development over, finished"
it's all over sounds like the cartoon ended.

That would be "That's all, folks!" (if you're referring to Looney Tunes
i.e.) <g>. And of course 3.93 will work with existing hardware. Later, the
definitions/reported specs will be outdated or devices will not be
recognized fully.

Development is over, and version 3.93 is the last one available.
it'll be greatly missed, at least from my side. One of the finest
pieces of software ever made.

Since there was no money to be had (it was free, even registration) and
since development is halted, why not release its code to the public? Go
check it in and make it a public license product over at
www.sourceforge.net. There might be someone else that might want to
pick it up if only to learn how it did everything it did.

That's a good idea.

Belarc is almost like using msinfo32, it's not a patch on AIDA32. It's the
crushing completeness of the latter that separated it from the rest.

If there was no money to be had in the project in the first place, why
wasn't it GPL'ed a long time ago? Or is the plan to now start up a
company and sell this thing and make some $$$ off it?

The AIDA32 site recommends that users get one of three other
products, including SiSoft Sandra. I think the AIDA32 team
just got tired, or perhaps they are finishing their graduate
school project???

I think the reason the development will have been halted is the sheer
effort of getting the detailed descriptions relating to all possible
components - eg as new motherboards are released, updating for the
speeds, memory configurations and so on that they are capable of. Aside
from that it is a pretty stable product that should serve as it stands
for quite a time. I'm pleased that they have consented to having it
available, in its final English edition, from Jim Eshelman's site -
http://aumha.org/freeware.htm
where the link to Aida 32 v 3.93 is a direct download which will be
retained
