software from a cd-burner i bought for an older computer.
so anyways, when i load up the program...it doesn't detect
my cd-rw...just a virtual image writer device. how the
hell do i get it to detect my new dell cd-rw so i can burn
burn burn?

Does windows xp recognize it as a cdrw.
Open windows explorer and right click the drive.
Select properties. Is there a recording tab?

It's tied to the make of burner it first came bundled with, and this is why
it won't recognize your new burner :)

Hi Dave,

Yup, there is a recording tab... so I guess XP does
recognize it. Any ideas?

When I bought my Memorex 52x24x52 CD-RW, a full version of Nero 5.5 was
provided in the box. However, this version will only work with the drive it
was provided with.

I also bought a Memorex CD-RW/DVD, and a version of NeroExpress was provided
in the box. Again, this version will only work with the drive it was
provided with.

Perhaps you could purchase a full version of Nero 6.x -- It may recognise
your drive..
