Hi can anyone help with ideas on this on ?

Recently changed my graphics card to GE Force FX 5700. Problem is that XP
does not recognise it plug n play. Have then tried the add new hardware
wizard but still doesnt see it. I`ve downloaded the latest drivers from the
manufacturers site but still no change.

I have no on-board graphics so, thats not the problem.

Now, when I try to reinstall the old card (GE Force 4), it doesnt work
properly anymore either (ie not recognised by XP). I`m aware of the
possibility of driver conflicts, so was careful about removing the old
drivers before I put the new card in.

Can anyone help ?

Thanks

Tom

check to see if the pnp is on in the bios, if your bios settings has that
setting

Hello;
Try going to the device manager and remove any and all display adapters,
then reboot, when XP finds the "New Display Adapter" insert the cd for the
GforceFX 5700 and let Windows search for the new drivers on that cd, and
install them..

Is the new card compatible with your motherboard? Newer AGP card requires
different voltage requirement than the older cards.

Is this one of the cards which require an 'external' power supply? Can you
see a power connector on it somewhere?
