Hi Spinboldak,

Age of Empires is sold separately from Windows.
You cannot restore it without the game CD, or in a
rare circumstance, the original restore CD from your
computer's manufacturer if the game was bundled
with the system and specially licensed for the event. :)

You can install and play the trial in the meantime from:

Normally, additional games or programs which come with newly purchased
computers are on CDs furnished by the manufacturer. Have you looked for
those?

Thanks. This program came loaded on the computer and I had to activate it after purchase. There are a couple of other games on the computer that I still haven't activated: Everquest, Men-in-Black, Charlies Angels. I don't recall getting any disks or CDs with the computer that I bought just about a year ago. I never made a system restore disk Perhaps I should do that now.

Hi Spinboldak,

A system restore disk wouldn't be able to restore those games
though. You would need a restore CD from the manufacturer
which includes those games on it. Contact the place you bought
the system from if they didn't provide you with a restore CD.

It turns out my computer has a program Vaio REcovery wizard that did the trick. I had to download a copy of my hard drive to my CD writer and then pick individual programs that had be deleted for recovery. It worked. I think this program is used in lieu of sending disks with new computers. Thanks for your help. Spinboldak

Great news, I'm glad that's working again! :)

Is there a way to make an archive copy of Age of Empires II or Are of Conquerors? One of my pairs of disks has several scratches on it (you can see through it!).

Thanks

I'll give that a try - but I sure would like to be able to store the original away (from my littel ones who think it looks pretty).

Thanks for the help.
