After replying or forwarding, inbox omits original message?

I am using Outlook 2000 on Windows XP Pro. When I reply or forward a message,
the original message disappears from my inbox and everywhere else. Another
user
on the same computer does NOT lose the original message. Per my Outlook 2000
reference manual (Osborne), the original message is not supposed to disappear.
Any ideas?

Right click on your toolbar and enable the advanced toolbar. In the
dropdown for views, it yours set to show only unread messages? Change it to
Messages.
