I reformated my computer and saved everything I wanted to and external hard
drive. Now my computer doesn't recognized the harddrive when I put it in.
The CD will not install anything either. What do I need to do to retrieve my
information?

Well, your question is very vague but I will do my best. When you say your
computer doesn't recognize the hard drive do you mean the external hard
drive? If so you may need some drivers for it that should have come with it
or you can get them from the manufacturers website. Also, you could be
missing some drivers for your USB or Firewire(XP should recognize these by
default). You will need to download belarc from..

Now if you meant the internal hard drive in your pc and you formatted it
with another computer then I would bet that it is a SATA hard drive and you
need the drivers for it refer to this for help with installing xp on a SATA
drive...
