After opening IE 24 times, an extremely offensive window pops up. I've tried
installing google's popup blocker but it doesn't stop this popup.

Scenario is that I've saved some pages locally on my hard disk. Whether I
open them randomly or just open a particular page 24 times a new
IEXPLORE.EXE instance is created which opens up a porno ad.

I've checked all the processes running using the task manager but can't find
any suspicious process running. I've reinstalled Windows XP professional,
used mcafee anti virus (windows and program files folder only), and searched
for files containing the website address of that poped up window (windows
and program files folder only). But nothing worked.

I've also installed all the latest security and critical patches available
at windowsupdate.microsoft.com.

Can you please help me. This bug is causing me a lot of embarrassment.

First eliminate any scumware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
