After I install the SP2 update my adsl connection disappears. There is no
ability to set up a new network/internet connection. I don't know how to
resolve this issue. I have uninstalled and reinstalled SP2 but no change. If
i don't add it, modem and network connection are fine, so how do I resolve
this issue?

Do you use an ADSL modem or an ADSL modem/router?

I use an adsl modem - dynalink ae70 - it connects via a usb. The problem is
after installation of the sp2, the connection disappears. I don't know why
this is. If i look in network connections it is empty, and i am unable to
click the icon for connection.

You should re-install the modem driver, using the installation
CD you received with the modem.

One of my clients recntly had a similar problem with his
ADSL modem: The connection kept dropping out. Rather
than spending a lot of time on solving the problem, I replaced
the modem with a modem/router. It has never failed since
and he gets the added benefit of a hardware firewall (because
of the inbuilt router), plus Internet access for additional PCs
in case he needs them.
