The video card requirements for AERO are at least 128 megabytes (MB) of
graphics memory and a graphics processor that supports DirectX 9
graphics, the Windows Driver Display Model (WDDM), Pixel Shader 2.0, and
32 bits per pixel.
Yet, oddly enough, the Aero interface runs just fine on my MacBook
with a 64MB video card. Actually, Visa runs better on my Macbook then
on my desktop PC with a 128MB video card, 3GHz processor and 1GB of
RAM... go figure.
Aero needs the memory for the textures, and I believe, it needs 128MB to
ideally be able to cache windows. It just won't work as well with less.
Maybe you might find that the Taskbar thumbnails are blank on those systems?
That card will not support Aero. I had a 9200 with the same problem. I
believe the minimum in the ATI line is the Radeon 9600.
