Wow. That has already been described to you.

The #1 best Aero feature for myself is, no screen tearing!

"slamming" Vista is not difficult, as it does that pretty well on it's
own, given how screwed up it is. I really wish those defending it would
stop doing so blindly and actually dive down into Vistas belly and see
it what is really is. (Hint: turn on classic mode, and that'll start you
on the correct path to see what's behind aero.)

Vista, when it comes down to it, is just more of the same.

It's interesting that you used the EXACT SAME verbiage as someone else
earlier tonight? I think it's time to start checking headers!
Vista, when it comes down to it, is just more of the same.

Courtesy of Paul Smith:

1) New fonts, much easier on the eyes.
2) Restore previous versions of files (volume shadow copies).
3) Far better security, user rights being used, address space randomization
on boot etc.
4) UI rendered through DirectX (no tearing windows anymore when you drag em
around!)
5) Search, being able to save search results as virtual folders, network
searching.
6) Offline files that take seconds to sync, and does it without annoying
you.
7) Windows Mail has these groups all set to go.
8) Diagnostics, loads of them can keep you busy for ages.
9) IPv6 and IPv6 over IPv4, brand new network stack, makes communicating
behind a NAT easier.
10) New faster audio stack.
11) New driver model, puts more drivers into user mode so they don't bring
down the system if they crash.
12) Ad Hoc networking support, in Meeting Space and available to 3rd
parties.
13) Photo Gallery, plus image tagging that isn't in a separate database but
stored in the files themselves so you don't need to retag them on different
machines.
14) Networking is easy to set up now.
15) Parental Controls, great for locking down what your parents (or
children) can break on their systems and for seeing what they've been up to.
16) Multiple clocks.
17) Sidebar.
18) Superfetch pages applications into memory so they start up instantly,
ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive too.
19) Speech recognition now built in.
20) Tablet features now built in, you can even use a regular drawing tablet
to unlock the hand writing recognition and all that.

Vista has problems. That's not in question. So, for you, to use the same
tired excuse of others "defending Vista" is starting to become boring at
best. It seems that's all you have now. David Spencer Hines is claiming
that Vista has no new features. Which is ridiculous.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...turning on classic mode DISABLES
WDM. So please explain to us how turning off Aero will show us Aero??? In
classic mode you bring back all the garbage repainting. So screen tearing
is possible. No thanks!!!

I see many people who have bene saying virtually the same thing, most
notedly because it's true.
Courtesy of Paul Smith:

Nothing in that list is really new... most of the things in Vista should
have been fixed in XP. We dont need a new bloated version. What we need
is an OS that is fixed instead of beign abandoned. DRM is a big reason
why this is - the media industries have great influence. Making money is
another. And lets not leave out helping their cohorts.

What becoming boring is people like you who wont admit the truth about
Vista. I think you know full well but cannot bring yourself to admitting
it. Vista is NOT A brand new version of windows. It's the next step in
"NT" coming up from 2003.

Uber cosmetic surgery, a new OS, does *not* make.

I can't believe you're serious?

"Uber cosmetic surgery, a new OS, does *not* make."

You truly have no clue. How sad.

You got that right Justin -- not even the tiniest shred of a clue. What was
true in the 70's is still just as true today...

Some people just don't get it, and never will.

Why is Wellbutrin prescribed?

Wellbutrin is prescribed to help relieve major depression. Symptoms include
a severely depressed mood (for 2 weeks or more) and loss of interest or
pleasure in usual activities accompanied by sleep and appetite disturbances,
agitation or lack of energy, feelings of guilt or worthlessness, decreased
sex drive, inability to concentrate, and sometimes, suicidal thoughts or
behavior.

Wellbutrin is thought to work by altering levels of the brain chemicals
norepinephrine and dopamine. It is not chemically related to other
antidepressants such as tricyclics (Elavil), MAO inhibitors (Nardil,
Parnate), or serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (Paxil and Prozac).

The more you speak, the more you succumb to your own definitions. Yes
there are some new tid bits and soem overhauled parts, but they still
don't justify a whole new OS over fixing the one thats been out.
Microsoft's practices are akin to someone who leaves projects partially
finished on a bench.

There would have been no way to implement Aero into XP (just ONE example).

Go ahead though....keep talking troll.

What exactly is wrong with Eye Candy?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?

That is just bull. Aero is a skinned shell for all intents and purposes.
The basic functionality (basic usuages and such) are still Windows.
Saying there is "no way to implement" Aero in XO or any other OS is just
laughable. There's been Longhorn and Vista/Aero based WinBlinds skins
for some time, though that might be considered more of a rough port. The
actual shell and the skin itself could be ported to XP or other given
enough time on one's hands. I'd certainally say it's possible, and so
would anyone else who has been in the CIS field for years.

J

Justin

You've proven nothing. Aero is more then a shell. WDM anyone?

Go ahead though....keep talking troll.

Try to do better next time.

Everything when it is the *only* new significant feature of an OS...

The same with women as with Operating Systems.

If Eye Candy is her ONLY significant Value-Added Feature, that's a Bad
Thing.
