Adware removal - and What the hell happended to REGCLEAN?

H

HelpNeeded

Is there any way to remove adware besides FORMAT C:

I've fiddeld for 3 weeks with

SpyBot
Norton Internet Security
G-Data
Microsoft Spyware Beta
AdAware

and the same frickin site keeps coming back, www.loadingwebsite.com

and VIVMA.EXE and TSTHE.DLL keep reappearing

Norton Sucks. I've talked to frickin India 10 times and they can't help me.

My registry is so frickin bloated, it takes over 15 miunutes for my PC to
reboot.

15 FRICKIN MINUTES!!!!

I've searched for REGLEAN and the only thing that comes up is a reg utility
for 2000 which requires me to create a "different" disk 6 that will run a
repair utility for XP

Hey frickin Microsoft, what the hell makes you think PCs come with floppy
drives anymore, you asswipes???

Microsoft Sucks
Bill Gates Sucks

But most importantly, Adware makers suck.

Can't we hunt them down and hang them upside down by their balls like they
did to Moussilini after the defeat of the Nazis???

Or should we drag them behind pickup trucks in Texas??????

Make a call and have a geek come over.

Not very helpful. Hopefully you don't have a job in the IT sector, as
there's not much of a sense of dealing with people or their technical needs.
In any event go to charm school.

All of the following ad-spy-malware removal/prevention tools should be
installed and updated frequently:

Ad-Aware

Spybot Search & Destroy

SpywareBlaster

Though with all the icons these great programs put on the taskbar, it's even
more annoying that WinXP isn't able to consistently hide all of them. My
taskbar looked like the front of an Indy race car this morning.

Mine are all hidden, no problems with that.

Regclean is still there. However, as per your icon issue - based on
assuming that you are speaking of the Notification Area:

Troubleshooting the Notification Area

Taskbar Repair Tool Plus!

That said, which are you speaking of that would be listed there anyway?

When the notification taskbar/area 'refuses' to hide icons, neither of the
above produce an effect-fix, or even one that lasts. Icons being hidden or
not - and being checked to do so or not - seem to be completely disparate in
this case. Checking or not checking the 'Hide Inactive Icons' has no
effect, nor does adding-removing from the notification area such as Volume
Control. Performing a Log Off-Log In sequence 95% of the time produces a
fix, which echoes what others have said about a Bug in Windows XP regarding
this. When a Log Off doesn't bring a fix it is necessary to shut
down/restart, bring up Windows XP, Log Off-Log In. Pretty boring frankly.

I first suspected that, as the icons not appearing were at first Spybot's
and MSAS, perhaps a worm was at work disabling these useful preventative
tools; but later I was told about the Notification Non-Hiding Icons Bug -
and began to get irritated, as well as curious as to why people in general
haven't experienced this problem. I found that when the non-hiding problem
was going on, Spybot's monitor was still active, though not visible, while
MSAS appeared to be completely disabled. In this context I mean, no
services loaded, no prompts to prevent scripts/etc, and executing MSAS via
Start Menu would only launch the program, not its resident protection.

I have noticed in the past 24 hours that sometimes when I bring the PC back
from screen saver mode, voila, the notification taskbar's icons are now
hidden! Sometimes alas it has no effect. Uninstalling just about
everything but Office 2000 has brought no change. The Log Off-Log On
sequence gives relief about 95% of the time, which makes me wonder if the
old ExitWindowsExec command still exists, and what the parameter is for "Log
Off", so I can put a .bat file calling this routine into my startup
sequence. It would at least be a workaround (however irritatingly
unnecessary) until MS fixes this problem.
