Adware keeps re-installing

R

Ron

I have some adware that is on my machine. I remove it with different
spyware/adware removers and it keeps coming back. I have attempted
removal with Adware SE, Spybot, CounterSpy, MS Giant remover, and
HiJackThis. Among the Adware that keeps re-installing is:

Advertising.com
AbetterInternet
CallingHome.biz
Flashback Flashenhancer

I have worked on this for two days. Any insight would be greatly
appreciated. Next step is to re-format the machine.

Sounds like a trojan downloader is downloading and re-installing the
malware. For this try Sysclean_FE tool available on the link below.
PLease report back with results.

The tools are fine for a start,.. but perhaps try to run em in safe
modus after downloading the latest definitions.

Also turn off System Restore before doing this, if running XP. That
will flush out all previous restore points, which I've read can hold
onto nasties.

I would not do that for a start... perhaps a good idea in Detroit Rock
City,... but not in the rest of the World as a first action to save
your system...

None of these actually removed what I had. I was finally able to get
rid of it by using HiJack this and running the log file through the
analyze and removing the suspect entries. As far as I can tell at this
point it is working properly. Thanks for all the help.
