Adware and spyware killing me

I have been helping a friend who got a new computer that came with a bunch of
OEM crap on it, which ofcourse has resulted in a ton of adware and spyware
the is repeatedly jamming up his system. I have used numerous programs,
(including, norton 2005, spybot, and a couple of other spyware programs) and
some of the syuff just will not leave!! I have removed the particular things
from the ADD REMOVE SOFTWARE in the control panel and even went online to get
specific instructions, but there are some entries that cannot be deleted from
the system tray, the applications list, and wherever else they have embedded
themselves. It is getting quite annoying because these programs are letting
popups get through and it's automatically installing toolbars that I don't
want, etc. There is even the Comcast security center installed that came
with his Comcast Cable Internet, and that is even getting fooled.

When all else fails, sometimes it's best to format your hard drive and start
fresh.

Could be bad advice. It's a new computer, and there's a good chance it came
with some sort of recovery disk that will just reinstall all of the things
the OP was trying to get rid of in the first place. That might be OK, as it
could allow for a more sensible strategy. It sounds to me like the OP is in
over his head, and his friend probably shouldn't have allowed him to start
messing around with things. He should post back and tell what the
applications are that he's having trouble with and what type of computer it
is.

But the OEM sotware will put it all back in. Best bet is to get a Retail
copy of XP asnd install that.

If he reformats with the OEM software the applications that where included
with the computer will just be reinstalled along with all the other crap.

Uninstall the programs (if you will never use them) that are associated with
the adware.then use more than one malware cleanner.Besides spybot you didn't
say the names of the other cleaners that you used many are garbage and will
install spyware themselves,(they get paid for doing this) Norton is not a
very good cleaner for malware its main perpose is virus protection.

If you don't use a firewall their is one listed below, also install and use
Ad-Aware SE,Spywareblaster CWShredder and BHO Demon,is the version of spybot
1.3?If not then upgrade it.

Sometimes, when you remove malware it will stop your TCP/IP
stack from working (Internet connection).
Winsock or LSP-fix will correct the problem,Download first.
Note to anyone using NOD32 Anti-Virus software,Do Not delete the
"imon.dll" this fix reports,That is your e/mail scanning engine.

YES-You need more than 1 malware program, the one's below are all free
and work well.

WOW...Thanks for the insult Raymond J. Sorry I didn't come out of the womb
as intelligent as you !!!!! For your information...After reading some things
and teaching myself a few things (Which is what I was trying to do in the
first place) I managed to turn it into a rather stream lined machine!!

If you are not here to help someone through the problem, but instead, tell
them how they can't do it....then go somewhere else and find something else
to do. This is a HELP forum...not an INTELLIGENCE INSULTING forum.

AS for everyone else that was trying to help...thank you...and the machine
was a DELL.

Thank You
Roger
