Advice Please: Hard Drives Too Close Together

I just added a 6.4 Gig hard drive to a Dell GX1 that already has it's
original 6.4 Gig hard drive, bringing the total to two.

Unfortunately, because of where the screw holes are in the chassis,
the hard drive that I added sits on top of the original hard drive,
with little or no space in between.

That isn't good, is it? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Generally that's not good, as the temperature of the drives will be
significantly higher when they're "stacked" on top of eachother.

Run an app like DTemp to check the temp, though. If airflow is good,
you might be fine. (I'd recommend under 45C)

If there's room, mount a fan a few inches away from the drives, and
let it blow air on them.

This was obviously one of Dell's ways of discouraging upgrades.

The cable has an extra connector at the right spot.

I'll have to try drilling new holes to position the drive a little
higher above the original.

Thanks.
