Hi All
I have Norton Secrity and it has an option to view or block adverts. I
recently did a virus scan and it detected 'TopSearch.dll' - aparently adwre
threat. Since Norton deleted this file, I cannot veiw ads (some maybe flash
or active x content) - 'Why would you want to?' I hear you ask...Well, I
probably wouldn't, but I hate the idea of software censoring what info I can
view. Any ideas?
Cheers

Hello, George,
One of the best things I ever did for my computer was to uninstall
Norton... IMHO it's an intrusive resource-hog, and it creates countless
headaches for users who buy units which have it bundled into their os.
There are much better anti-scumware setups available....As far as
wanting to pick and choose which sites from which you want to allow
flash advertising, if you're running Firefox as browser you can install
the NoScript extension and nail down exactly which site you want to
allow JScript to function, not to mention FF's ability to block popups
universally or allowing certain sites.
Also, RJK is dead-on in recommending the use of an updated HOSTS
file. I've also got an 'edit HOSTS' shortcut on desktop, making the
addition of new scumsites a 10-second task.
