Ads from InternetProgram

Just yesterday, my computer has been receiving random pop-ups or ads.
Whenever a pop-up occurs, a small white window on the lower-right hand of my
screen would appear with the following message: Ads from InternetProgram
The message is not clickable and goes back down. Is my computer affected
with a virus? If so, are there any ways to get rid of it without purchasing
any products?

Hey Byte, I first downloaded Ad-Aware and was able to remove all critical
threats but one. I think because of it I still had ads popping on. I then
downloaded Spybot, which I am certain got rid of all the detected spyware
problems because it said so. But for some reason, I'm still having ads pop up
where they shouldn't. For example, I would open Internet Explorer and it
would take me to my homepage(Google), immediately followed by a pop up with
still the small white box appearing on the bottom right of my screen. I
really appreciate you providing two links to help get rid of malware/spyware,
but do you know what else seems to be the problem?

I don't think this really makes a difference, but the small box that appears
on the bottom right of my screen actually says: Ad served by InternetProgram

Also these ads starting appearing after I accepted a download which was at
high risk. The download didn't work though.
