Hi dmarcil :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

IE will not connect to a web page without manually typing http//

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_8.htm#extension

or....

Resets all the IE functions - for windows, hangups,

Start> Run> Paste this
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll

and then do the same with each one of the following..

regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

or.....open an ms-dos prompt window and type the following hitting enter
after each line.

regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dll
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll

This should sort the problem out completely. It works for Windows XP pro and
IE6.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, or you need help with the above,
please post back to this thread with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Hi dmarcil :)

Try this and see if it works better for you:

Cannot access HTTPS Pages

Try this: Open your internet explorer, open the Tools menu, go to Internet
Options/Connections/LAN Settings/Advanced and in the box labeled
"exceptions" put in "https://" (without the quotes!). That should exclude
proxy operations from nearly ALL secure sites. If you put in a specific
site, this will exclude just that site, but if you put in just the part I
specified above, that will exclude ANY site that uses the https addressing
scheme

also....

That's a symptom of a problem with your DNS.
It may only be temporary. If it is long-lasting or frequent
notify your ISP.

You can try working around the problem or try to find out
more information with commands in a command window.
Use nslookup to test your DNS. Use either ping -n 1
or tracert to test your lookups. By doing the latter in NT5
(e.g. XP or W2K) you may preload the lookup into your dnscache
which might make subsequent lookups for IE work better.
In any case just making sure your DNS can do the lookup
might make subsequent lookups for IE work better,
since then your ISP's DNS server may be caching it too.

BTW please learn to compose more specific Subject lines.
Generic and misleading subject lines are often ignored
by potential responders and in any case make subsequent
searching by newsgroup readers harder than necessary.
