Trying to upgrade to 2003 domain, but am stopped here. Where do I find out
the cause of this error?

Adprep encountered an LDAP error.

Try a DCDiage on each of your DCs.

The last time I saw this error, there was a problem with the FSMO role
trying to be touched during the operation being run when this was run.
I'd start by ensuring that all of the FSMO roles (just check em all for the
sake of completeness, as I don't have enough data to tell you which one you
are targeting here :)) are online and properly operating. You can run the
command "netdom query fsmo" to try and find them, and ensure those servers
are still around and operational. If the server is down and the role has not
been moved, try and transfer or seize the role to an online DC (seize only
if the original DC will never be back agan) then try this operation again.

if that does not work for you, please paste in to a reply the following
info:
1) Output from command: netdom query fsmo
2) Full adprep logs

Thanks!

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. Seems my schema master was
assigned to a server that was removed. Once it was seized, adprep ran without
any issues!
