When I try to open an eml attachment, text or photo, Adobe Photoshop has
suddenly become the program that attempts to open the attachment. Error
message from Photoshop says "it cannot open this type of file." In the past,
Photoshop was not involved in opening attachments. What changed, why and how
do I go back to normal? Windows XP, Outlook Express.

This is a problem with an incorrect file association; change .eml file
extensions to open with Outlook Express. If that doesn't work, ask for
help in an Outlook Express newsgroup such as
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general

Thanks. Can you tell me how to change a file extension?

In Windows Explorer, right-click an EML file and choose Open With>Choose
Program. Check the box marked "Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file". Locate Outlook Express in the list in the Programs pane or,
if not there, click Brose and locate
C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe"

Thank You!
