Adobe Comments items duplicated in other toolbars

I have Adobe 7.0.8. Recently I noticed that whenever I save my macros,
shortcuts etc to my normal.dot and exit Word and when I restart the Adobe
Comments items duplicated themselves sometimes replacing my customized
toolbars or other toolbars. I always have to save my good copy of the
normal.dot before I create or edit my macros just in case Adobe screws up my
toolbars. How can I prevent this short of getting rid of the Adobe Toolbar
altogether. Thank you to everyone who can help.

This is probably caused here by Adobe trying to write to the same space that
your custom toolbars occupy or from interference with another add-in. eg the
Works add in is notoriously problematic if you have that -

Try making your custom toolbars float, allow Adobe to write its toolbars to
the toolbar areas then put yours back in a different place, leaving
Acrobat's where they automatically go. It is probably not a good plan to add
personal icons to the standard toolbars. Use custom toolbars instead.
