I think you don't understand the main part of Acrobat documents. Adobe
has established a program that is designed to work across nearly all OS
platforms as a standard. It works on Windows, Linux, Apple, etc. and
provides the viewer with an exact view of the document as created by the
author.
One of its main selling points is that it can create documents that
cannot be altered, and can even control the option for printing. This
provides a lot of security for manuals, archived documents, legal
documents, etc.
You may want to change a page or two but that's exactly one of the
reasons an author uses Acrobat.
