adobe acrobat reader not working

for no reason, my acrobat reader stopped working. i
unintalled and reinstalled v6, then tried v.5. does
anyone know of any conflicts with recent windows updates
that would cause this?

I don't think that this problem caused with any updates.

The error message suggests that the directory that adobe wants to use is
unavailable (non existant, or no permissions, or something). your going
back and trying 5 may have had a negative impact.

uninstall all adobe versions, then reinstall 6 and see if works. check
your temp environment variable and ensure the folder it points to exists.
