Ok, at one point I'll have a gander at it. Meanwhile, just to cut to the
chase, has it been resolved? Whether it's Adobe or IE, something has gotten
corrupted or is in conflict, otherwise it *should* work. Running IE6 with
*all* patches, updates, blah-blah and Abobe Reader (AcroRd32.exe) ver.
6.0.0.2003051900 and it works fine. Haven't done the latest update for it
which Adobe keeps pestering me about. I have no need for that updated
feature.
I don't know what the actual situation is with yours yet. But after all
methods of trying to repair, remedy, "patch up" by round- about means, I'd
select to un-install and re-install it. A very handy tool which I will not
live without is Total Uninstall. I install and remove *No program* without
it. It shows all changes made in the Registry, and every other place one
would wish to selectively scan. Then if there are dribs and drabs which are
not removed, one can seek them out, determine if it is detrimental to remove
or safe to remove. (Like shared .dll's for instance) Then it is clean.

Also, there is the very good idea of a clean-boot for all very complex
removals and installations. Mostly to aid the process by eliminating any
process that may be running in the background and would therefore not permit
the file to be updated, altered, or removed as it is in use at that time.
Clean-Boot eliminates that probability.

There is also an excellent article and description by Gary S. Terhune which
speaks in great detail, the why's and wherefores of a clean boot. I have
used his method extensively for everything from Scandisk, and defrag to
dealing with cantankerous programs. For this, I thank you Gary.

I've been having a similar problem and Jan has been
helping me work through it along with the guys at
auhma.org. Ended up talking to Adobe tech support and
they said it's not Adobe, it's IE. If you want the long
boring details... see my post on June 21 sometime between
7 AM and 11 AM... I think it is on page 40-something by
now.
