ADMT Computer Migration

Rick

When using ADMT 2.0 to migrate Computers I get an Error:

Failed to change domain affiliation, hr=8007054b The
specified domain either does not exist or could not be
contacted.

What is the resolution of this error? I cannot find it in
the knowledge base.

Is the workstation you are using for ADMT pointing to a domain DNS server?
Can you ping the DNS server from your workstation? Can you resolve the
domain name by pinging it?

Sounds like either the trusts are not set up correctly or a DNS issue. Make
sure that you are following the article below to perform your
migration:

326480 How to Use Active Directory Migration Tool Version 2 to Migrate from
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=326480

Make sure that the DNS servers in both domains have the secondary zone
replicated from each other. Thus, they will be able to locate the
domain without problems.

There is a newsgroup for ADMT: microsoft.public.windows.server.migration
which is monitored by M$ folks.

Your problem is that you need to create a Forward
secondary zone for the target domain in DNS at the source
domain, after that use ipconfig /flushdns in the
workstations and make sure nslookup "target domain name"
is working good at the workstations.
