I am cleaning up a friends XP PC and want to remove an old version of
ZoneAlarm.
It says that I have to be in Administrator mode or similar wording.
It is possible that the user may know nothing about how to do this, and I
don't.
How can I pursue the situation?

Thanks

You have to start XP with an account that has administrative privileges.
If you go to control panel/user accounts you should see a list of all accounts
and if they have administrative rights. If none of them have start in safe mode
as administrator...it should be on the startup list

Thanks Peter, this was new to me.
How can I tell if I am in a mode where I have Administrator rights?
It looks to me as tho I should have as there only seems to be one account.

Control Panel> User Accounts. Check for the listing of account you are
logged on with. If it says "computer administrator" underneath, you have
administrator rights.
