administrator password problem

help! i'm using xp pro at home and at the welcome screen
i can log on as a guest, but can't log on as
administrator. my password doesn't work. i've tried all
my old passwords and nothing works. i can't get access to
my files. is there a simple solution? i don't want to
reinstall xp.

i pressed ctrl/alt/del 2 times quickly,

typed "administrator", left password blank and it worked!

i changed my admin password,logged off, and tried to

login again as admin, but couldn't. i had to do the
ctrl/alt/del thing again. my old admin password is
protected. any ideas? oh, and thank so much for your help
so far..

Make sure you are typing it exactly.
Passwords are case sensitive and there is no tolerance for out of
place upper or lower case character.
Watch spaces also.
