Ron,
If you're using XP Home, you won't have a choice but to boot into Safe Mode
if you need to log in as Administrator.
You can create other user accounts that have administrative rights - so
they're the functional equivalent of the Administrator account.

However, if you're using XP Professional, from the Welcome Screen (where you
can click on the account you want to log in with) hit CTRL-ALT-DEL twice.
This will bring you to the "classic" logon prompt. From there, you can log
in as Administrator.

Download/run tweakuiXP (from MS powertoys website) and under the logon
tab you have a set of tick-boxes for which users you want to see on the
welcome screen - Administrator is one you can add.

Alternatively, as someone said, ctrl-alt-delete, twice.
