Administrator Access

My son has somehow managed to change his computer so
there is no administrator access and he now only has
limited user acess. He can not use his access to use
system restore so we have been unable to add, change or
remove any programs. Is there anyway to restore the
administrator account? Right now it just shows his
limited access account. I am hoping I don't have to
reformat the hard drive and reinstall XP but I will do
this as a last resort. Thanks for any help I get.
Please forgive me as I posted this in the wrong area the
first time.

Dennis;
Reboot tapping F8 each second.
At the menu choose Safe Mode.
Select Administrator.
Then Go to User Accounts in Control Panel.
You can select his account then Change Account Type.
Or you can create a new account or both.
