I know of four ways to access Win XP Home Administrative Tools.
1. Right-click on My Computer and choose Manage.
2. Run services.msc
3. Control Panel > Administrative Tools
4. Start > Programs > Administrative Tools

I would like to remove the Administrative Tools folder from the Start Menu.
Unfortunately, Win XP Home tells me it cannot me done. Is there a reg hack
or some other way for me to accomplish this?

I'm having trouble getting there. I get to System Administrative Tools ok,
but I don't see <Don't Display This Item>. I'm using Classic Search Menu,
in case it makes a difference.

You're using the classic start menu. The weird thing is that
you need to first disable it in the XP style menu. Once you've
done that, it will not appear in the classic menu. Try this.

Right click your Taskbar and select Properties from the menu.
In Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, click on the Advanced
tab.
On the Advanced tab, click on Start menu and hit the Customize
button.
On the Customize Start Menu dialog, click on the Advance tab.
In the Start menu items box, scroll down to the end and select
"Don't display this item" under System Administrative tools.
Click OK.
Back in Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, select Classic Start
menu.
Click OK.
Hit the Start button and see if Administrative Tools has been
removed from the Programs listing.

Good luck

I think I followed --
Change to the Win XP Style of Start Menu. Then go to Advanced > Admin Tools
Don't show. Apply. Close out. Then set it back to Classic Start Menu.

Funny, when I found the "Don't display this item" -- it was already checked.
I checked it again (actually, it was a radio button) for good measure,
applied, and backed out. I checked the Control Panel, still in the Win XP
Style of Start -- Admin Tools was still listed in the Programs menu.

I switched back to Classic Start Menu. Admin Tools is still there.

Ack! I WANT it in Control Panel.
I don't want it in the Start Menu.

Did I misunderstand the directions?

Right click the Administrative tools in start menu and choose Delete

I want to say THANK YOU to all the fine posters who gave me advice and
helped me find my way around the Start Button. I was successful in
deleting Administrative Tools from my start menu.

This makes me very happy!
