When ever I try and run Flight Simulator 2004, I get an
error box that says "Log in with Administrator Privilages
and try again".It happens on all of the exe files in the
main subdirectory except the Kiosk.exe, that one exits
itself upon hitting any enter key. It's been installed
and uninstalled 4 times now, different directories, new
reg keys, still the same error box.
Over 3 hours on the phone with tech, FLTSIM software
dept said it was a system problem, XP Systems techs spent
an hour on it and say's its a software problem. We've
gone through the registry with a fine tooth comb. Tried
creating multiple administrator accounts from various
boot-up modes. It is a documented problem but the only
fix found so far was a REFORMAT and RELOAD of O/S with a
Dell disk. I have a Gateway 2.0MHZ/512MRam system, plenty
of computer. Reformat is NOT an option.
I have id'd a failed update of winXP on Q320678 which
deals with the IWbemEventProviderSecurity::AccessCheck
but this was supposed to be fixed in Service Pack 1, I
have Service Pack 2 installed and all updates I could
find.
Another error Event ID 1508: Description; Windows was
unable to load the registry. This is often caused by
insufficient memory or insufficient secrurity rights
(this popped in upon 4th attempted installation of FS2004
software package) Details; The system has attempted to
load or restore a file into the registry, but the
specified file is not in a registry format, for;
C\Documents and Settings\Flight Sim\Local
Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows\\UsrClass.dat
This file IS there, in that sub-dir and is the same SIZE
as the UsrClass.dat in all the other accounts. This
system is running XP-Home version.
Tech is stumped, MS website has nothing, my phone bill is
nearing 3 figures for this nonsence, can anyone help?
