Admin issues with Excel

I have a MSAccess97 database with security. When I try to create a query
within Excel it cannot link to the database saying 'Do not have permissions'.

So, in Access-Permissions, I ensure that the Admin user can administer the
database then when I create the Excel query it connects and works fine.
The problem is this then means that anyone can access the database without
using the shortcuts with username and passwords I have created.

I created my own Admin name which is what I want to continue using. Can
anyone help?

I suggest you download and carefully read the document noted below. Pay
special attention about the admin accounts.

Access security is a great feature, but it is, by nature a complex product
with a very steep learning curve. Properly used it offers very safe
versatile protection and control. However a simple mistake can easily lock
you out of your database, which might require the paid services of a
professional to help you get back in.

Practice on some copies to make sure you know what you are doing.

The security of the database isn't an issue and I have fully read this
documents several times. The problem is that Excel will not connect to a
secure database unless you set ADMIN privileges to allow ADMINISTER DATABASE.
This of course is not what I want to do as it clearly states also in the
document everyone will have access to the database.

I have posted this question many times in the past 3mths and no-one seems
able to come up with a solution.

Thanks for your reply

Sorry I seem to have misread your question. Sorry I don't have any
experience trying to access a secured database from Excel.
